It's a good way to start most dogs below age of 3-7 mths. Some dogs are late bloomers, but somemature faster in their early age of 5 months.

From our experience of conducting group classes, some trainees have a hard time controlling their dogs if they are too young in obedience training class due to distractions & lack of socialisation. Half the time in the class, owners are just busy trying to control their dog, thus it becomes very disruptive to the rest of the class & not productive to the your training process. That's why some prefer to start their pups in the puppy Kindergarten prior to formal obedience training class.

So when your dog reach the age of about 6 months, it should be both physically ready & mentally mature enough to join our formal obedience training class, basic agility will be introduced as well. It will be more vigorous, lots of running, hi-level activity & attention obedience work will be done.
