What is Competitive Obedience & Agility Trials?

Obedience trials

  • Obedience trials test a dog's ability to perform a prescribed set of exercises on which it is scored. In each exercise, you must score more than 50% of the possible points (ranging from 10 to 40) and get a total score of at least 170 out of a possible 200. There are 5 levels at which your dog can earn a title and each is more difficult than the one before it. You may see levels divided into "pre-novice", "novice", "intermediate", "open" and "utility" at a trial. Give it a try!

Agility Trials

  • A team sport where you are in charge of the strategy and your dog is responsible for the athleticism. Dogs leap over hurdles, power through tunnels, zip through weaving poles and scale ramps of different sizes. The aim is to find the balance between the control of the dog and the speed of the performance. Scoring is based on faults. A dog that completes the obstacles correctly without faults and in the fastest time will win and earn a Clear Round. Dogs earn titles when they achieve a set number of clear rounds.
